The short version
AMLHUB is a compliance software platform — originally built in 2018 for New Zealand real estate, later adapted for the Australian market. It gives your team tools to run checks, track records, and manage your AML program yourselves, with expert consulting and outsourced case-handling available as an add-on if things get complex.
AML HQ is built differently: every program includes a real, named, AUSTRAC-accountable Compliance Officer who reviews files and makes the actual Approve/Hold/Escalate decision the law requires — backed by SENTINEL, our AI-assisted platform. You're not running the compliance program yourself with software as a helper; a qualified person is running it, with the software doing the heavy lifting underneath them.
The one question worth asking any provider: when a file looks genuinely borderline — an offshore buyer, a trust structure, a PEP match — who makes the final call? With AMLHUB, that's you or your team, with support available if you ask for it. With AML HQ, that's already built in as the default, on every file, automatically.
To be fair — AMLHUB is genuinely broad
It would be inaccurate to describe AMLHUB as an identity-check tool alone. Its published offering includes client onboarding, remote and face-to-face checks, PEP and sanctions screening, risk registers, assurance reviews, AML/CTF program consulting, reporting assistance, training and full or hybrid KYC outsourcing. That breadth is a genuine strength, and it's exactly why AMLHUB works well for an agency that wants flexibility — run checks internally, or hand off complex files as needed.
SENTINEL, our own platform, covers this same ground — onboarding, screening, risk registers, training records, reporting, and the option to escalate complex files. The difference isn't breadth of service. It's who's making the judgment call, and under what pressure.
The conflict of interest AMLHUB's model doesn't remove: when a busy principal or agent is also the person deciding whether a borderline file gets approved, they're making that call while under commercial pressure to keep the listing moving. That's not a criticism of any individual's integrity — it's a structural problem, and it's exactly the kind of thing AUSTRAC's own guidance flags as a genuine risk pattern. AML HQ's embedded Compliance Officer has no listing to protect and no deal to close, which is precisely why AUSTRAC expects that decision to sit with someone independent of sales pressure in the first place.

Where AMLHUB genuinely does well
To be fair — AMLHUB has real traction: over 10,000 users, a mature mobile app for face-to-face onboarding, genuinely broad service coverage, and named client testimonials from established agencies. If your agency wants that flexibility — running most checks internally and escalating only the complex ones — it's a legitimate, well-used option.
Where AML HQ is different
- A real person owns the decision. Not a dashboard flag — an actual named Compliance Officer, notified to AUSTRAC, making the Approve/Hold/Escalate call.
- Built by Australian specialists for the Australian real estate market. AML HQ wasn't adapted from an overseas product — it was built from the ground up around AUSTRAC's Tranche 2 rules specifically for Australian real estate agencies.
- Fees can be passed on, so price isn't the deciding factor. Any agency can apply vendor admin fee recovery with any provider — it's a general business practice, not unique to us. We actively guide you through it because our fee reflects real human involvement, and we don't want that to be a barrier to choosing the right compliance model for your agency.
- The CFO Model is genuinely unique, though — not fee recovery, but a real profit centre. Instead of just offsetting the AML cost, the finance income it generates can cover the AML expense entirely and add further income on top.
- Franchise networks get real oversight. SENTINEL's Head Office portal gives group owners visibility across every office — including ones that haven't moved to AML HQ yet — something we haven't found any competitor offering.
